Comments: This is the coconut of commerce. Subject to a virus, causing the disease yellowing and to larvae of a beetle and lepidoptera eats the leaves. A variety resistant to yellows, Maypan, has been introduced. This is the well-known seashore palm found along tropical shores throughout the world. Can be used as a street tree in tropical climates. Crown is topped with long, graceful pinnate fronds.
