Comments: Is drought tolerant, but will adapt well to wet areas. Invasive and not easy to eradicate but much easier to control spread than the regular giant reed that does not have variegated foliage. This one has considerable merit as an ornamental grass in places where growth can be restricted. Makes a handsome foliage for floral arrangements. The variegation normally fades to pale yellow-green after a few weeks of growth.
