Comments:
Purple Angelica, considered to be a biennial, is a fairly flat mass of a few large leaves the first year. The stem stalk and leaf veins tend to be reddish. In the second year it rises to four feet or more and produces a flowering stalk. Leaves and seeds are used in confectionery and flavoring and in liqueur preparation. The roots have some medicinal uses.
