This is a fast growing, rangy evergreen shrub with yellow and green variegated foliage. Bright orange flowers are special features. It is relatively easy to grow and will tolerate a wide range of growing conditions, even light freezes. It makes an excellent container plant in locations subject to freezes since plants will need protection from hard freezes. Flowering maples bloom over a long period from early spring until frost. Fertilize young plants in early spring to encourage acclerated growth before flowering. This and other flowering maples attract hummingbirds.
