Pencil cactus grows in semi-arid climates and needs all the light you can provide it. It may produce single or multiple trunks which support succulent, pencil thick branches with tiny leaves that shed early and easily. Pencil cactus ooze a milky sap when damaged or cut and contact with this sap may cause dermatitis in some people.
