Comments: It is seldom killed in zone 8, but may be severely damaged by temperaures below 25 degree F. Gives tropical flavor to water features. Not fully cold hardy, dies back to the roots in cold winters but returns in early spring. Cut back dead foliage in winter. Clumps form a thick, dense mass. Responds favorably to several applications of fertilizer during the growing season. Reported to have been cultivated for over 200 years in water gardens.
