A palm-like sub-tropical tree in its native land that grows erect until several years old. It will then probably fork to produce more heads. All parts of this drought tolerant plant are posionous if ingested. Normally used as an accent plant in the landscape. Seldom does it become tree size. Often grown as a container plant. Noted for its attractive burgundy colored foliage.
