Comments: This extremely drought tolerant species produces a highly fragrant white flower with lavender trimmings for several weeks in the summer. Funnel-shaped flowers have prominent lips and are orchidlike. In the fall, the large seed capsule opens in the fall and birds feast on their contents. Excellent flowering tree for the dry Southwest. A large shrubby tree associated with dry, gravelly, alkaline soils in Texas.
