Comments: The bright golden flower is quite sweet when it first opens, but as the flower fades the old flower and crushed foliage smells bad. Reported that wild life would plow up huge patches to eat the roots in spring. Bold, flat, coarse-textured foliage is quite attractive. It produces a large, golden spathe that is very similar to the peace lily and calla lily, both relatives. Grows in wet bogs.
