The most striking feature of this slow growing cactus is the long, white hairs it possesses, which serve to protect it from the sun. Bright sun promotes growth of the white hair that makes many plants appear almost snow-white. Generally produces and unbranched, single stemmed plant. Flowers open at night in spring.
