Comments: This forsythia produces variegated foliage. It is not widely grown as the regular forsythia, but does produce yellow flowers. Provide full sunlight and a well drained soil for forsythia. Forsythia perform best in the more northern part of its range of growth because there is insufficient cold to satisfy its dormancy requirements in the Coastal South. This among the earliest of our spring flowering shrubs to come into bloom. The bright golden yellow flowers can be seen for great distances, Prune forsythias periodically. Remove old, non-flowering canes to allow light to get into the center of the plant. If properly cared for forsythias can live for many years in a garden.
