Comments: This perennial often escapes cultivation and grows in places where growth needs to be checked. There are some special selections that produce large flowers and blooms over an extended period. It tolerates a very wide range of growing conditions from wet to dry soils and full sunlight to rather heavy shade. Stems are terminated with a bundle of floral buds that open over a rather long period in the spring to early summer. Foliage persists for most of the year.
