Comments:	This is the tropical grass that is of tremendous commercial importance in the South but also has considerable merits as an ornamental grass where a tall, slender specimen grass is needed. The cultivar 'Pels's Smoke' has handsome smoky-burgundy colored foliage. The stems are purple. Sugarcane makes an excellent container plant.
