Two lobed, heart shaped leaves drop after flowering and tree becomes completely bare when dry conditions occur. Flowers are fragrant and attract hummingbirds. Cannot tolerate even moderate freezes. Plants are being grown farther north than usual because of the relatively mild winters in recent years. Produces a truly exotic flower.
