Comments: Blooms repeatedly and attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. If grown in zone 8, may be cold damaged. A tropical that is being seen growing farther north than usual because of the warm winters in recent years, but subject to severe injury during even moderate freezes. Growth is fast in warm climates and where other conditions are favorable. Produces a broad spreading tree somewhat similar to mimosa. Produces orchidlike flowers in spring and summer.
