This extremely hardy variety is fruitless. In fall it can have some of the most dramatic foliage color of all the flowering pears. It is very columnar in growth habit, making it very useful in narrow planting sites in the landscape. Not as likely to have broken branches due to narrow crotches as some others flowering pears.
