Dark green leaves make excellent background for the masses of vivid reddish berries that are produced in fall and winter. Use for barrier planting, since it has wicked thorns. Prune in late winter or early spring to keep plants in bounds. Outstanding display is made when mass of this pyracantha is in flower and fruit. Birds will eat the apple-like berries.
