Comments: This species has 2 to 3 needles per bundle. The needles are 8-12 inches long. It has purple pollen cones in February. This pine is a very fast grower and is used in lumber production. Do not plant tall pines near the house as they break with wind and ice storms and falling straw collects on the roof. Susceptible to various kind of beetle damage and fungal attacks.
