Grow in afternoon shade in the South and in full sun further north. Soil should be kept moist to prevent leaf scorch. Is an evergreen in areas where winters are not severe. The large, coarse textured leaves can give a tropical effect and accent in the landscape. The clumps of this perennial should be divided in spring every 3-4 years.
